Welcome to the Bristol Endodontic Clinic Newsletter 2007
For those of you who have not visited the practice, which as referring practitioners you are welcome to do at any time, we have parking on the forecourt for the benefit of yourself and your patients. To give you the best experience and value for time do give us a little notice of your impending visit.
For the comfort of patients we provide hot and cold beverages in the practice but as many travel long distances and wish to have a meal there are three local restaurants and a Waitrose close by. Local bed and breakfast accommodation is also available with a local taxi service to and from the Rail station and Bristol Airport.
Awards
For the last three years we have received various awards for the practice and have just received our latest award for best referral practice in the South west. Prior to this award we have won: Best New Practice; Most Attractive Practice Environment; and Best Referral Endodontic Practice UK.
Thank you to all those who voted for us and we will continue to strive to attain and provide the best service for your patients.
Dentavital Nutrition Supplements
Probably the most important innovation in our practicing armamentarium, and certainly a revolution in my approach to integrated medicine. Born on a farm in North Devon I have always had a passionate interest in food and nutrition and have become more concerned at the increasing prolific use of antibiotics to treat endodontic and periodontal infections.
We introduced the Dentavital range of nutritional supplements to the practice almost two years ago and have changed to an almost “Antibiotic and Painkiller Free” practice. The change in my own health and the anecdotal response from patients as well as the evidence-based research catapults us into a more natural and healthy prescribing pattern.
To find out more visit www.dentavital.co.uk or contact us at the practice. From September 2007 an applied nutrition course for medical and dental professionals, which I have just validated at Worcester University, will be available leading to a “Certificate in Applied Nutrition”. Places are limited for this distance learning, modular-based course so do apply early to avoid disappointment.
Latest innovations
Many of you will know that I have used the LIGHTSPEED technique for the last 17 years to address the forgotten importance of the apical diameter. No other technique is available which addresses this fundamental issue which defines the success of any endodontic procedure. Lightspeed, now owned by Discuss Dental in the UK, has produced the second generation LSX instrument which is easier to use, with less instruments and is almost impossible to fracture.
We will be running hands-on courses in the South of England in the coming year so do contact the practice to have your name added to the list of those wishing to be contacted about these courses.
OZONE therapy using the latest technological advances in surgery production of the sterilizing gas has improved success of our treatment to higher levels than ever before.
Temporary restoration
Often because of the waiting list patients may need to wait a few weeks to be seen in the clinic so do please use a long-term temporary restoration which will avoid the need for you to constantly replace or further restore the tooth in question, and prevents further infection and unnecessary pain and inconvenience to the patient. I suggest using a GLASS IONOMER CEMENT. Cavit and even IRM are NOT suitable for intermediate restorations prior to endodontic treatment.
Post and Cores
We will provide either split or simple cast post and core for any of your referral cases. I prefer to take control of the root entirely and provide you with the prepared tooth fitted with a temporary crown ready for you to make the final crown. I see so many post perforated roots which could be so easily avoided by referral. If you wish to place the post and core do let us know in your referral letter.
And finally...
If you have any comments or want to find out more about the most exciting new innovations and courses do not hesitate to call me at the practice and speak to Angela, Jane or Val. We all look forward to an exciting year and perhaps seeing you in the practice. We do appreciate your loyalty and referrals so thank you all.
