The practice was established in 2003 as a purely specialist endodontic referral clinic, and created to a very precise specification and design.

The before and after photos which show exactly what was involved in creating the practice the way it is today!

Before!

After!

The practice was over a year in its transformation, and involved removing internal walls and replacing them with glass and maple screens. The materials used in construction were as far as possible kept to natural products; wood, glass, marble and steel.

The practice was designed with the following main points in mind:

1. Patient comfort

The entire practice has air conditioning with a separate theatre style air filtration and exchange system. The entire volume of air in the surgery is exchanges 5 times an hour to reduce to a minimum the cross infection potential of air contaminated by aerosol. This maintains a clean and quiet working environment - so much so that many patients fall fast asleep in the chair during treatment (honestly)!

There is a wide choice of music / talk radio to listen to during treatment, whether a radio station of your choice or a genre of music of your choice. The dental chair was chosen as the most comfortable of a large selection tested. The neck pillow is made by Tempur, and moulds to the back of the neck to prevent neck and back ache as far as possible, as appointments generally last 1-2 hours. All treatment is done under rubber dam, which makes the treatment more safe and comfortable. We also offer both oral and intravenous sedation for patients who are nervous.

2. Second to none hygiene and safety standards:

As a new practice, we have started from scratch to ensure health and safety, cross infection control procedures and other clinical governance systems are second to none, and hold regular staff training sessions to ensure we are up to date with all legal requirements. The water lines and surfaces are sterilised and cleaned using Sterilox, a revolutionary new system which produces Hypochlorous Water, more powerful than bleach but safe to drink. This maintains safe and clear water lines (which can otherwise become very contaminated with bacteria) and makes the surgery a far safer environment. The new style vacuum autoclave ensures that instruments with small working parts can be more thoroughly sterilised, and we are always researching the latest thinking in infection control so that the surgery environment is as up to date and safe as it possibly can be.

3. The environment

The practice is designed to be environmentally friendly, using the minimum amount of paper products, and recycling wherever possible.
