Our clinic prides itself on offering the best specialist service possible. Our team are trained in all aspects of the practice. Three team members are fully qualified dental nurses specially trained in four-handed Microscopic Endodontics and also conscious sedation. They have also trained on reception and have a full understanding of practice management. Our reception team have a full understanding of Endodontics and surgical procedures and often observe in surgery. This helps them acquire a greater perspective of Endodontics, the process and help them relate to the patients that have been and are due to come as they can explain what happens to put the patient’s nerves at ease. We feel that with all team members being able to do all jobs or have an understanding of them that it builds a stronger team that can work together more efficiently. As part of team training/bonding, all team members will travel with Dr Holland to San Diego this November to attend a conference on Microscopic Endodontics and meet some of the worlds most specialist dentists from all genres.

The practice principal is Dr Alan Holland, who has been practising dentistry for 25 years, and registered as an Endodontic Specialist in 1999. He has practised privately in Bristol for many years and is now only carrying out Endodontic treatment on referral. He also lectures on Endodontics, throughout the UK and most recently in Australia, as well as giving lectures and hands-on workshops throughout the South West.

 

Jane is our Endodontic nurse, who came to us nearly 3 years ago with no dental experience but a lot of faith and determination! She has now fully qualified and has attended sedation and computer training courses. She is now fully trained in microscopic endodontics and is highly skilled at four-handed Endodontic and surgical procedures.

 

Angela is also a qualified dental nurse and as well as being Alan's wife, is our cover for when staff are away, for any out of hours overtime, and when the paperwork mounts up we can rely on her to come and rescue us! She is fully sedation qualified and helps out during sedation procedures, as well as dealing with all the financial aspects of the practice. Her sunny smile and unmistakable laugh keep all our spirits cheerful!

 

Valerie is our newest member of staff on Reception. For the past 19 years she worked as Admissions Secretary and Secretary to the Deputy Head of an Independent Grammar School. Since joining our team, with no previous dental experience, she has grasped a thorough understanding of microscopic Endodontics and has been able to apply the knowledge she has acquired from observing to ensure nervous patients are at ease. She has developed fantastic relationships with both patients and referring dentists. Her lively character, commitment and determination are admired by all making her a joy to work with.

 

Farewell to:

 

Joanna was our Practice Manager, and has now sadly left us to pursue her passionate desire to study fashion in New York. Since gaining her degree at the London College of Fashion last year she has worked at the practice while also working toward her own dreams in both the Fashion and Music Industries. She has worked as front office contact and more recently as personnel co-ordinator and training manager involving close liaison with the dentavital nutrition company. Joanna added youth, style and an ethos of discipline which would be the envy of many larger organisations.

 

Anne left us last year, and has just completed her first year at Bristol University, training as a dentist. She is being supported and encouraged throughout in her desire to qualify as a dentist. She qualified as a dental nurse 10 years ago and recently qualified in dental sedation nursing. She had worked for Alan both as a nurse and receptionist part time for the last 7½ years. She has also taken a diploma in practice management, gaining a distinction, and also has extensive microscope and four-handed technique experience, accompanying Alan on hands-on Endodontic courses for dentists in the South West.
